Brian hails from beautiful Bangor, Maine and attended the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. He served as a Naval Officer for 20 years, retiring in 2017 as a Lieutenant Commander. He served in numerous locations at sea and ashore in the United States, the Middle East and Asia as an operations, logistics, and planning leader. Brian has also worked at LL Bean and Room & Board in operations roles. He is an active volunteer for Team Rubicon where he travels to provide post-disaster assistance to hard-hit communities. Brian holds an MBA from the University of Maine, Portland, where in 2009 he met...
Dave grew up in North Yarmouth, Maine before attending Carleton College. His Latin American Studies major took him to Bolivia where he co-founded The Spitting Llama Bookstore and Outfitter- a chain of retail stores. Dave has written three books: Youth Renewing the Countryside, Coffee Smuggler, and Cyber Fire. After earning his MBA at the University of Maine, Portland, he worked as Outreach and Communications Coordinator for Safe Passage and then as Assistant Director of Annual Giving for Bowdoin College. Dave has been a real estate investor since 2011 and is a broker for Remax Riverside specializing in commercial and investment property. He co-owns 50 rental units in Southern Maine and enjoys working with owners, residents and contractors to solve problems and improve communities. Dave has served on the board of the Ecology School in Saco and his local Budget Committee and Parks & Rec committee.
Erin grew up in Auburn, Maine but headed south in high school to study vocal performance at North Carolina School of the Arts. She then moved on to study history and French, graduating from Brown University. After living in Paris, New York, Boston, Los Angeles, and Humboldt County, she and her husband Kiran settled in Brunswick where they now live with their three children and two dogs. Along the way, Erin earned her MSW from Boston College Graduate School of Social Work. In addition to working at Katahdin Property Management, Erin serves on the founding board of The Emergency Action Network (TEAN), a nonprofit dedicated to harnessing the generosity of the community to serve Brunswick's most vulnerable members. At TEAN she works most closely with the growing community of new arrivals from Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Jean was born and raised in rural Connecticut before heading to Vermont to earn her undergraduate degree from Middlebury College. Jean’s fascination with children’s thoughts and behaviors led her to the Institute of Child Development at the University of Minnesota, where she earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in developmental psychology. Jean was a faculty member at Colby College and Hamilton College before stepping back from the grading and research projects to spend more time with her growing family. Jean works in the back office at KPM and is the manager of special and routine projects. She lives in North Yarmouth with her husband, three sons, and a crazy yellow lab. She is a marathon runner and longtime friend of Dave’s from their Saturday morning running group.
Ben went from Maine to Harvard to San Diego State University to become a therapist who provides individual and family counseling for children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced trauma. Ben also oversees in-home support services for children with developmental disabilities in his role as a Section 28 program manager. He's putting his social work skills to use for Katahdin Property Management by serving as property manager for 3 Mclellen St. in Brunswick. Ben is also an Aikido blackbelt, so don't try any funny business.
Melissa was born in Rhode Island and raised in northern Maine before settling in the Brunswick area. She received her BA from University of Southern Maine in Studio Art with a concentration in Ceramics and a minor in Innovative, Creative, Entrepreneur Studies. In her down time you can either find her working on her latest art project or off on an adventure in the woods.
Doug was born and raised in Venice Florida. He joined the Navy in 1991 and began a 20-year career as an Undersea Intelligence Analyst and Sonar Technician. He has traveled and lived all over the world along with his wife Denise and their 2 children. He retired in Connecticut and, while navigating the horrible economy at the time, he decided to go to school. This 49-year-old freshman began his college career at MXCC in Middletown, CT and earned an AS in Business Administration. In 2015, he transferred to Quinnipiac University and earned a BS in Management and an MBA. Every summer, the Smiths were exploring coastal New England and fell in love with Maine. Upon graduation, he strictly focused his job search on Maine and eventually moved to the quaint village in Yarmouth in 2018. Doug manages several properties for KPM.
Rommy was born in Cochabamba, Bolivia where she was the first indigenous woman in her family to graduate from college, earning a bachelor of science in Food Engineering. After graduation, she found the love of her life, Dave Holman, and together they started the Spitting Llama, a chain of retail stores. Rommy moved to Maine in 2009 and managed over fifteen employees at Sweetser's Apple Barrel. Her passion for food led her to build a blog BolivianCookbook.com and to earn her graduate certificate in Food Science and Nutrition at the University of Maine. She now lives in North Yarmouth with her husband Dave and two kids, where she shares all her native cuisine and language.
Kacy was born and raised on Martha’s Vineyard, attended boarding school in western Massachusetts, and finally found her way to Maine as a college student at Bowdoin. With a bachelor’s degree in biology and environmental studies and a minor in education, she followed the path of teaching in a non-traditional classroom. Kacy lived in Wyoming while she worked as a NOLS instructor in the backpacking program in the Rocky Mountains and the sailing program in the Sea of Cortez on Mexico’s Baja Peninsula. In 2008, Kacy returned to Maine and accepted a position in Bowdoin’s Office of Annual Giving where she raised funds for the College until February, 2022; this is also where she met Dave. Kacy has served on the parent’s advisory committee for the Bowdoin College Children’s Center and as a board member of the Brunswick Community Education Foundation.
Elizabeth is a native of Brunswick who left town to study at Wellesley College and later UMass Amherst, where she earned a Ph.D. in School Psychology. She and her husband Sean returned home to Maine after finishing graduate school. Elizabeth practiced as a clinical child psychologist specializing in autism spectrum disorders before stepping back to devote more time to her family. At KPM, she oversees leasing and manages The Sandpiper Residences. Elizabeth is passionate about building community and strong connections between families in Brunswick. She also loves conversation, travel, great food, warm weather, and learning about people’s lives and experiences.
Hop was born and grew up in Vietnam. She earned a BA degree at Hanoi University, and then took a Fashion Design Course in Hanoi. She became a High School teacher for 6 years before she came to Maine in June 2005. She has been living in North Yarmouth, Maine since she came to the United States. After her first job with Netflix she studied Medical Coding, Medical Billing and Medical Terminology, and then worked for a doctor for 6 years. Hop is in love with designing; she can make clothes without using patterns. Hop has designed and made a lot of clothes and bicyclist’s bags for many clients for 29 years. She likes to challenge herself in many different fields with many skills.
Alexis grew up in the North Yarmouth area. She went to college in New Hampshire, at Colby-Sawyer College where she received her BS in Child Development. Alexis is a third grade teacher, and when she is not teaching, you can find her taking care of her cottage in Raymond. During the summer months, she loves spending as much time as possible outdoors exploring different beaches and towns around Maine!
Originally from the Green Mountain State of Vermont, Silas came to Maine in 2020 as a student at Bowdoin College. At Bowdoin, he was an English and Africana studies double major and also a member of the varsity nordic ski team. He became a part of the Nordic-skier-to-KPM-employee pipeline, joining the team in 2024. Silas manages properties in the Portland area as well as serving as the assistant leasing manager of The Sandpiper Residences in Brunswick. Silas is an avid skier of all kinds, enjoys board games of most kinds, and seafood of many kinds. He lives in Portland.
